LOVE

LOVE

The Fruit of the Spirit that we are going to talk about today is LOVE. I feel like I have been beating this topic to death. I feel this way because the more I dig into scripture the more it is brought to my attention that this is the same love word used in the book of Deuteronomy. I have written about it in my previous articles about the SHEMA. Now we will go into this love word with a little bit more detail. The word in the original Hebrew language is “Ahavah” Strongs Hebrew 160. It is “Agape” in the Greek Strong Greek 26. These words of Love are important in how we live our lives. We have to be able to show love to God as well as our neighbor.

So Christian Fathers what does this have to do with us. How are we supposed to love both God and our neighbor? Are we supposed to love them equally or are we supposed to love one more than the other. If we look at the Great Commandment in Matthew 22:37-39 it is later explained that they are one in the same. We can not love God without loving our neighbor. If we are failing to love our neighbor or our fellow man then we are failing to love God. We as men have a special responsibility when it comes to love. Love is so important that it is expressed over 200 times in the Bible. It is so important that it is something that God thought it important enough to have us use it to describe so many things that we do.

We have to understand like it was explained in the web videos from the Bible Project that we cannot love “pizza and our wives the same” for if we did then our wife would probably be offended and you would end up on the couch. Yet, for most people pizza is still held in high esteem. I have an even better one for you the love of your wife or football. Many times we get in trouble because we place football over our wives. With the new NFL season starting on tonight many fathers are going to have to choose which love is greater or make a compromise. That is the same place we are when it comes to God. However this is no compromise God has to be our number one love. All the things that we do should point back to the love that we have for God.

For me even when it comes back to me writing this blog it’s shold point back to Christ in all that I do. So back to The Fruits of the Spirit, Love is the first fruit that Paul decides to list in the text because to me that character trait is one that is most important. When you have love you are able to build and truly get to the other Fruits of the Spirit. So fathers explain to me how you feel that love effects you in your every day life. Fathers is love strengthening or hindering your ministry? Is love the core of all of your relationships? On these next couple of days where ever you read this article lets dialogue about LoVE.

Fruits of The Spirit

Fruits of The Spirit! Galatians 5:22-23

Since I have been doing my blog I came across a young woman doing a blog about the Fruits of The Spirit that can be found in the book of Galatians. Let’s check out what it says:

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:22-23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

For the next few blog post we will take out time to extensively dive into the Fruits of the Spirit. I want to reach men in a way that they can understand that they have the ability to live with these very important characteristics. So from a father, husband, and just a regular Christian man we will look at what God is telling us through the Apostle Paul about what fruit we should bear. I want everyone that reads this blog to tell all your male friends to start tuning in to find out what God has for them in this season.

So for the next nine blogs join me as I talk with you guys on what God has dealt with me about the Fruits of The Spirits!

Time With The Kiddos

Batman took 9 HRs

I did not post on my normal schedule like I normally do because I spent the entire weekend engulfed with doing things for and with my children. I got so caught up in the moment of exploring their minds that I did not think about putting pen to paper. The time we spent together was far more important than what I could have put here. The joy of seeing my children get to spend quality time with me was something I can take with me for years to come. On this weekend I wanted to practice and live what I preach when it comes to being a Christian Father. Moments that I will remember will also be remembered by my children as something that they got to do with their dad.

So this weekend we spent time building together. I went on Friday and bought two different LEGO sets. I made one set with my little girls and made the other with my older daughter. It was something that was very difficult and time consuming but a great enjoyment. Doing things with your children is a true blessing from God above.

It brings me to the point Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it”. Training doesnt just happen with things of the Bible but how you live your Every Day Life!😄

Can You Still Hear His Voice?

Can You Still Here His Voice?

I saw this picture on social media this week and I new it was time for me to touch this subject. This is something that I as a man deal with on a regular basis. It is something that happens in our society a lot because we have so many things that can take our attention. We can have games and television right in our hands anywhere we go. Even right now while I’m writing this my wife is in the room with me and the tv is going. Distractions from our calling are all around us. It is up to us to secure our time with God. We must understand that even now with this digital age that we live in everything can be done at our fingertips. Since that is the case when it comes to our favorite shows on tv then why cant we pause sometimes and take out some time for God? Why can’t we put everything on pause and take some time to read our Bible or pray and meditate unto God.

Just like we see in this cartoon distractions are everywhere but God is still calling for us to hear him. Have you put yourself in a position to maintain your good relationship with the father. Will your distractions get in the way of what God has called you to do in this season? I personally have a desire to be able to hear from my Shepard all of the time. I pray that you will take a look at your distractions and make a move towards God. I Love You and So does the Shepard.

The SHEMA “Reborn”

So the “Shema” came back up in my bible study this week. It has been shown to me this week that it is also a New Testament philosophy. Jesus brought it up as something special that we must also look into. Let’s look up what Jesus said in the book of Mark.

“And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he: And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭12:28-34‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus saw it has the First Commandment that we should follow. So what does that mean to us today? To me it means that the SHEMA was so important that Jesus himself had to mention it. That it is so important that we as men should understand it and use it in our lives. God gives us tools we have to be willing to use the tools that he is giving us. One of my words of wisdom that I even give to my children is this: “I have the answers to the test why try to figure them out on your own”. I let them know that when they are going through something in life that I have done before. Jesus already knew that the SHEMA was a very important prayer and way of life that is why it is quoted word for word in the New Testament. Let’s go fathers lets dig into our faith.

Media Wants Us to Believe that Heaven is Segregated

Throughout this time we have spent together over the last few months. We have dived into many different subjects. We have talked about some things that have been happening around the world especially when it comes to different social issues. We have briefly talked about some of the riots that have been going on. We have even talked very briefly on why it is that some of them have started in the first place. I want to take a few moments to discuss some of these things that have been going on in the United States. Through this discussion I pray to come to some solutions on why these things may be happening and if we can finally get them to stop.

In the USA many people of color feel as if the white Americans have unwarranted privilege. They feel at times that whites have received special treatment when it comes to jobs, schools, and even crime punishment. It has been seen all over the media when someone of color commits a crime and the book gets thrown at them and then a White person commits the same crime and receives a lesser punishment. It is seen and it is wide spread across the USA. It doesn’t just happen anymore in certain parts of the country but all over. It is something that has caused out roar within the community and it is something that people of color want to see changed. Especially since these are not the only injustices that they see happening in their communities.

People of color are also seeing their fellow brothers and sisters being killed in the streets by people who are supposed to be under the motto to”protect and serve”. Lots of times in America it appears that they do a lot less protection and a lot more serving up bullets. I do feel at times police officers should be able to protect themselves when they feel threatened but when is feeling threatened going to be to much in the USA. How many lives are going to have to be lost for no reason at all before some changes are made. Don’t get me wrong there have been some cops out there that want to do the right things but the media is not portraying those cops. They are only portraying the cops who are doing negative things.

The problem that I see with all of this is that when people have been oppressed for so long when they begin to get power instead of doing good for all they turn in to the oppressor. My prayer for what is going on in the USA is that we are able to find a compromise that allows people of color to feel safe in their own country. I pray that in America that we are able to find solutions that allows us to not just show things over the media that will induce hate and prejudice. I feel that way because we already have enough hate and prejudice in the USA we don’t need the media to ignite the fire.

Christians lets stand up for the social injustice. Since media sits out here and wants us to believe that heaven is going to be segregated and that we are going to spend our eternity only with our own kind. That is is not true and it is causing so much hate within the world. I want people to understand that God called us as Christians to love not to hate our neighbors. How can we do a better job in letting our light shine?

SHEMA

I just did a wonderful Bible Study this past week about a very important prayer. The Study was done on the prayer the SHEMA. You can find this prayer in Deuteronomy 6:4-5 it reads “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” This scripture was something that was prayed on a daily basis by the children of Israel. It prepared them for their day and allowed them to tone the relationship that they had with God and strengthen it for the day.

The prayer teaches us that we must Love God with everything that we have. That the love that we have for him has to come from our entire heart. This is a love that we as fathers must also have for all of our children. We must be able to have this also for our wives.

The study explains that when we are loving the Lord our God this much then it is something that is coming from everything that we have. It develops us in ministry, and it develops us as men. I feel that all of us have to have a personal prayer declaration that we pray. Something that is calling out all of the things that may get in your way throughout the day. You have to put the love of Jesus over your day and over your wife and children. The SHEMA is a great start for us as men to do this. It is something that we should teach our families to do as well. Prepare yourselves daily and pray the SHEMA

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭6:4-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

School During The Pandemic

Ok Fathers with school age children lets talk about this situation we have going on with our children going back to school. What are your thoughts about the situation? What is the plan for your Children? Do you have some fears associated with the children going back to school. In my local area they have pushed school start date back. The children will not start school till after Labor Day. However they gave an option for them to choose virtual or in person. My wife works at the school so because my wife is already going to be there and I also work the children will be going to the school.

I feel personally that COVID 19 is definitely real. I believe that we have to come up with ways to mitigate the death rates of this disease. The country is at a lost because we don’t know how to control it yet. It is our responsibility as parents to ensure that we can take care of our children and ensure that they are able to avoid the virus to the best of our ability. I do believe that states owe parents a plan on how to mitigate all of the risk that are associated with the virus.

I do believe that God will walk with us through the things that we are going through. I feel that he will protect each and everyone of us. If we do happen to get the virus God will get the glory through what ever tribulation we may face. Job went through much sickness and lost his earthly possessions but in the end of all of his tribulations God got all of the increase.

Fathers tell me how you plan to help mitigate the risk for your children during this pandemic?

Response To Men Being Taught How To Be Better Husbands and Fathers

After my last message about the church teaching men to be husbands and fathers. I received a lot of mixed reviews over social media. Some that I feel like were trolls within a Fathers ministry page but others gave really good feedback. There were some things that were brought to my attention that I was not really aware of. There was things that were said that gave me some good insight about what is really needed.

One of the people that has actually done a lot of work in this ministry field said that “People that want to be good fathers and husbands are already looking for the tools that make them good and are already pretty good parents. While parents that are doing bad don’t want to be told that they are doing bad and don’t really want help.” I looked at this insight from someone who has been in the trenches with this type of ministry has very informative. I see it this way because it gets you grounded in your thoughts about ministry. It helps you to understand that there will always be people that you will not be able to help in this world. The ones who are going to want to do better are going to try and do better.

This brings me to my next point that was interesting to me. A guy commented that you can give men all the tools but if they don’t use them then what are you supposed to do. It seemed to me that he was very indifferent about doing this type of work. Yes his statements are true but in his full context he said that it was not necessary to teach these skills because they wont be used. That is the part that bugs me God called us to ministry not for the masses but for the one that we may be able to save through the things that God has given us.

There was even a friend that said that his church has ministry that teaches men how to be fathers and husbands. He said that he feels that he is a better man for it. It allows him to be aware of his shortcomings and the things that he has to improve. He looks at the training that he has received as needed and thinks that it should be done all over the world.

If I would have to look at everything that was said about this topic on my comments I would be able to gather that there are many people who feel like this should be happening in ministry. However, there are just as many who have lost faith in the work that ministry can do and don’t believe that it would even work if we tried. My prayer is that men everywhere would get the opportunity to do the things that will make them better husbands and fathers. I believe also that it is the church’s responsibility to help get us there.

Can Churches Teach Men To Be Husbands and Fathers?

A friend of mine from High School made a post on social media about how churches. Her thought was “If Churches would teach men how to be husbands as much as they try to teach women to be wives”. It was left as an open ended statement but I see it to be very something that is tangible to talk about. Something that I feel needs to be discussed.

In the day and age that we live in women in many cultures to include the Christian Church are groomed to be mothers, wives, and alike. However, at the same time men are not groomed on how to be fathers and husbands. They are not taught what it means to be the head of their homes. I see that all over the internet and in churches you have successful women’s ministry that are developing women to be the best that they can be. When it comes to things for men those same things are lacking. It’s hard to believe that those things are lacking being that you have so many successful men in ministry. It just seems that the focus is not for them to reach fathers and husbands but on so many other things in ministry.

My wife has said to me for so long that she enjoys churches that focus on “Inreach” more so than “Outreach”. Working on the people within the ministry more so than the ones on the outside. If some of those things were focused then we could possibly have better husbands and fathers in this world. It’s not to say that there are not some good fathers and husbands in this world because there are. We still need work and we still need lessons to be taught. I am not claiming to be the greatest father or husband by any means. I have made many mistakes in my time being both but we must work towards being better.

Let’s start a conversation on where we can go from here. What are somethings that we can do to bring ministry to husbands and fathers? How can we teach boys to truly become better men? Women are trained to be great can men do the same? Write me and tell me what you think.
